🔍 Reflection Point: Team Execution and Investment Readiness
What do investors look for in startup teams when making investment decisions?
In my journey of collaborating with various businesses, I’ve witnessed the pivotal role that a well-assembled and efficiently functioning team plays in the success of fundraising any venture. I’ve also learned that team execution isn’t a matter of chance; it requires intentional and well-thought-out actions from both you as a founder and your team members.
In this context, what should founders prioritise when assembling a team to drive their vision forward? Recognizing the critical importance of team execution, how can you, as a founder, best support your startup’s team execution and increase their likelihood of success?
As you navigate this path, some questions that you as a founder could keep in mind and revisit regularly are:
• What does “team execution” mean to you as a founder and for your business?
• What are the key factors that could contribute to the success of team execution?
• How will you assess team execution during the investment readiness process?
These questions can help you, as a founder, refine your team’s goals, roles, and expectations while identifying and addressing any gaps or challenges in your team’s performance. What’s even more beneficial is that when you actively engage your team in answering these questions, you not only gain valuable insights but also foster a sense of commitment among team members. This can inspire them to be more invested in the shared goals and more eager to work collaboratively towards achieving them.
